And the Independent continues

Following on yesterday's post, another interesting article in the Independent about new forms of business models and IP owners (clearly not always the same as creators and inventors) seeking alternative means of obtaining reward.

Under the suggestions, competition questions will remain - and I'm not too sure about the two distinct categories of access which seem to be emerging. They may raise their own human rights questions. However, when such issues are regularly debated in the broadsheet press, it's a sign that not just academics and focussed activists are interested in our type of work and its possible contribution. Excellent for morale!

Dear Abbe Brown,

China is a unique country for global IP community to understand. Despite the critiques, appraisal and focus on the land of dragon, I may say that China has taken considerable steps on Intellectual property Rights infringement. Japan is one of the few countries in the world that commended China's effort in the area of combating infringement of IPR. Having said that, the competition and human rights dichotomy are another set of challenge wich China has in their priority checklist. Being China, (such a vast geogaphical demography and high density population), surely, it will take some time to reform. Busines owners, investors and IPR owners are taking such IPR issues on their hands and at times at their own risk. And the only way the global IP community, WIPO and the developed nation could assist China is to understand the "culture", "history", "language" and "geographical provinces" as priority prior to providing such paper views and actions to be done on China. Besides, China appreciates that the world is looking on them eagerly and they have the answers to all of these ongoing challenges that the world posed. Arguably, a longer time for the rest of the world to understand and receive the answers.

Respectfully commented.
